Attraction Details :

Nestled in the beautiful valley of Amphoe Mae Chaem, this agricultural station of the Royal Projects is set under the idea of agro-tourism site visitors can enjoy scenic valleys and plantations as well as experience the experimental process for agricultural produces. Mae Chun Luang station focuses on doing researches and studies about fruits for high-terrain landscape and cool weather. If you visit the station in winter time, let’s say December to February, you will get a chance to witness the blossom of pink-colored cherry blossom flowers as well as other floral plants in various palettes. Tea lovers shouldn’t miss to visit the tea plantations, where various kinds of tea are grown, as well as sample the tender aromas and tastes of them. Yam Bai Cha, or spicy tea-leaf salad, is a specialty available you should also try. A wide range of accommodation options are available for either 50-member group or a sweet couple.

Getting There: There are two routes to the station:

●       The first route is about 120 kilometres.  From Chiang Mai town, take the Chiang Mai – Hot route, via Amphoe Chom Thong, and turn right towards Doi Inthanon till you arrive at km 31.  Then, turn right and drive past the Royal-Initiated Doi Inthanon Development Project. Continue for about 16 kilometres and visitors will arrive at the Chiang Mai Royal Agricultural Research Centre (Khun Wang) to turn left and continue for another 6 kilometres.

●       The second route is about 92 kilometres. From Chiang Mai Town travel through Amphoe San Pa Tong, then turn right to Highway No.1013 to Amphoe Mae Wang. Make a left turn after Mae Wang and you’ll be on a curvy road uphill via Ban Nong Tao, Ban Pa Kluai and Ban Pong Lom Raeng. Turn right and continue for another 9 kilometres.

Nearby interesting attractions are:

●       Mae Khun Wag, a Hmong hilltribe village – Take a 20-minute drive to the north of Mae Chon Luang Station and you’ll get to experience the Hmong culture.

●       Sirirat Waterfall – Located in the west of the station, the waterfall is great for relaxing
