Attraction Details :

Set at the foot of theMemorialBridge(Saphan Phut), the Memorial of King Rama I the Great was built in 1932 to celebrate the 150th anniversary ofBangkok. King Rama I was the first king of the Chakri Dynasty who demanded the relocation of the capital city from Thonburi toBangkokon the right bank ofChao PhrayaRiver, which is regarded a better strategic location. King Rama I was born inAyutthaya, the former capital city, on 20 March, 1736, accessed to the throne on 6 April, 1782, and passed away 27 years later.
